Arithmetic is the branch of mathematics that generally deals with studying numbers with the help of various operations. These operations are Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
It is denoted by the Symbol that includes
+ – × ÷
The addition is a process of adding two or more numbers together. In other words, it's a sum of all the numbers.
e.g., If 5 kids are eating lunch, and later on, 2 more kids join. How many kids are there in total?
5+2 = 7
So, a total of 7 kids are eating Lunch.
Subtraction is a process from which we eliminate the object from the original one.
e.g., 3 children are playing carom and later on, 1 child loses the game. How many children are playing in the game?
3-1=2
Hence, 2 children are playing Carom.
Multiplication refers to the addition of the same number to itself several times. We call it a product.
e.g., Rohan went to the market two times and purchased 3 ice creams each time. How many ice creams did Rohan bring?
Even Rohan brought 3 ice cream. It means 2 × 3 = 6 Ice creams.
Division refers to the breaking up of large objects into small groups.
e.g., On distributing 10 pencils among 5 children, each child gets 2 pencils, and 0 pencils are left.
These are the concepts of basic arithmetic that are beneficial for the kids.
